PROMOTE YOUR CERTIFICATION

As you prepare for G.A.P. Animal Welfare Certification, here are a few helpful links to help you through the process:

Which level of G.A.P. Certification can I expect to achieve?

Click here to access our Standards overview. You can also look at our species standards pages for beef, bison, chickens, goats, laying hens, pigs, sheep, and turkey.

What is the process for G.A.P. Certification?

Once you’ve filled out the inquiry form below, a G.A.P. team member will connect you with the appropriate Certifier depending on your location. Read more about our independent, third-party Certifiers here.

Does G.A.P. have any resources I can use to prepare for my audits?

Of course! Click on this link to “PRODUCER RESOURCES” – it is also available under the STANDARDS menu on our site. There you’ll see helpful docs organized by species. Just scroll down until you find the species and the docs you need to help you prepare for your animal welfare audit.

About how long does it take to get G.A.P. Certified?

Times vary depending on the number of farms in your operation and how quickly the Certifier can schedule audits on each farm. Please Note: remote audits are being performed during the COVID-19 pandemic so please allow extra time for processing certificates during this time. Once you have submitted your application to the Certifier, they will be able to give you a better estimate of timing. In general, you can plan for between 4-6 weeks from application to certificate.

How much does G.A.P. Certification cost?

G.A.P. certification fees vary by operation, the number of farms being audited, and the travel expenses associated with an auditor visiting every farm. (Note: remote audits are being performed during the COVID-19 pandemic.) Once you have submitted your application to the Certifier, they will be able to give you an estimate of overall costs and associated timing. They will also advise on ways to bundle audits to save money. The G.A.P. organization receives a $100 application fee from the Certifier, which is built into the total cost.
